Our Concept
The „Mirov Academy of Dance“ is a Professional ballet school, based on the Vaganova-Method. Our teachers are professional ballet artists from Saint-Petersburg, the origin city of Vaganova.
The concept behind the school was developed by the owners Madalena Abrantes and Yury Mirov. Together they decided to create a studio where everyone can feel at home and strangers become part of their ballet family!
We created a new concept of a fitness lifestyle, which helps you achieve your dream body while subtly enhancing your personal elegance. All classes you will attend are completely designed by us. It is an unique experience you cannot find anywhere else.
Our classes incorporate a whole established fitness journey consisting of ballet, stretching and ballet inspired workouts. With us you are not just someone visiting the class, but someone who we recognize as an individual person who has strenghts and weaknesses. Together we will work on those and help you improve them.
Located in the heart of Frankfurt in Bornheim, a very young and trendy neighbourhood, our doors are always open for everyone.
We communicate in multiple languages and welcome all ages, genders and levels.
We offer a professional academy education, which opens your way to a brilliant ballet future in the best companies of the world.
But that is not everything!
For small children, we offer pre-professional ballet classes where they can enjoy their free time finding their love for ballet and dancing around feeling free.
For adults, we also have an enormous program to offer. We have adult classes EVERYDAY!

Trial Lesson
You are always free to book a trial lesson with us. To book a trial class please go to BOOK A TRIAL LESSON and fill out the formular or feel free to book it directly at the front desk in our studio.
When booking the class, you will see if there are still free places in the chosen lesson. Normally there is always a place waiting for you.
- When arriving at the studio, please register yourself at the front desk.
- You can come already dressed but you also have the choice to use our changing rooms to change into your training clothes.
- Everything stays in the changing rooms. You are only allowed to bring your water bottle, mobile phone and if needed a small bag into the studio.
- After taking the trial lesson, please go to the front desk to decide whether to pay for the single trial lesson or to sign a membership contract. If you chose to join our community, the trial lesson will be for free.
Price for trial lesson: 25 €
If you decide after the trial lesson that you would like to become a member of our ballet studio, the trial lesson would be free of charge.
Studio Rules
Please arrive to class with enough time to change so that the class can start on time.
If you are running late, please enter the class quietly, go to your place and join the current exercise.
Do not forget to always check in at the front desk.
You can decide whether to come already dressed or to use our changing rooms to change into your dance/workout gear.
Everything stays in the changing rooms. You are only allowed to bring your water bottle, mobile phone and if needed a small bag into the studio.
For parents
In our Studio, there is one very important rule:
Parents are always welcome!
We really have had bad experiences in the past seeing parents get treated wrongly by other ballet studios. Especiallly when you have younger children, it is very important to accompaign them to their ballet classes. If you, as a parent, do not feel welcome there, your children will feel the same. So we do not want you to go through that experience .
There is a nice coffee, matcha and smoothie bar with some snacks, from which you can order something while waiting for your child to finish their class.
Also it is normal to have questions regarding the classes and the studio etc. Please feel free to ask and clear out your questions. You can ask the receptionist, you can ask the teacher or even easier, you can write an E-mail, Whatsapp or Instagram-DM to the team.
For us, it is very important that you feel comfortable in your kids ballet studio. We will do everything to reach this goal.
Approach for Academy
Our professional ballet academy is inspired by the Vaganova school in Saint-Petersburg. Therefore we offer a similar program to theirs, teached by former ballet dancers who graduated from there. The program consists of:

Approach for Pre Professional Ballet
Children ballet 2-8 years old
We believe that elegance is an important factor in a person’s behaviour. It is something that you can learn from early on. That is one of the reasons why Pre-Ballet is so healthy for Children. Another reason is that Pre-Ballet strenghtens their coordination and concentration while having fun dancing around.
Additionally, it challenges the children to understand new ballet-steps, to connect with others and to make new friendships. Keep in mind: The beautiful posture of someone who learned ballet stays for life!

BALLET FOR BEGINNERS
You have never taken a ballet class before? This is your sign to change that! In this class you will start from zero to learn the basics of ballet. Do not be afraid of making mistakes because you are here to learn from them. You will be prepared for the „ballet for advanced class“ until you are ready to take the next step and switch onto the next level.

BALLET FOR ADVANCED
You want to bring your current ballet skills onto the next level? This class is the perfect way to accomplish that. In this class you will have the full experience of a professional ballet class. That means we start on the barre and finish in the middle. Be prepared for the most challenging and tough combinations and also to improve your jumps and turns.
Age: 18+

POINTE SHOES
You already take ballet class with us and want to take it further? This is your sign to give pointe shoes a chance. To dance on pointe shoes simply belongs to ballet. It is always a 30 to 45 minutes class right after ballet class as an extension of the ballet class. That is why it is worth joining pointe shoes, since you already came for your ballet class.

MAT-PILATES
You have always wanted to try pilates but have never really gotten the chance to do so? This class is the perfect opportunity for you to give mat-pilates a try. This class is not only about normal mat-pilates exercices but rather also about ballet inspired pilates exercices. It will sculpt and define your body while strenghtening your muscles and toning your tummy, legs and arms for a sleek physique. If you are an early bird, these classes are ideal for you because they usually take place in the mornings.

STRETCHING
You want to relax your muscels after a hard working day? This class is made for you! Stretch, de-tense your body and increase your flexibility while listening to upbeat music and gaining a joyfull spirit. What makes this stretching class unique, is that the teacher concentrates on each one of you and stretches you to the limit. Getting to know your limits speeds up your improvement process and also makes you feel the imnprovement. Do not be afraid and just try to stretch. Of course the teacher will adjust to your level and will make you feel comfortable.

BARRE
You want to experience a new form of cardio workouts? We combine ballett with fitness and do different exercices to tone your body and give you an elegance in your way of moving. You will train your upper body, your core, your legs and your feet. Practically, it is a full body workout in only one hour! Do not hesitate to try this class because if you stay consistent, you will get to see the promised results.

CONTEMPORARY DANCE
This class is part of the academy program. Here you start to learn the basic steps and movements of contemporary dance. Further, we will learn small combinations, followed by whole choreographies. Part of them will be inspired by famous artists. The other part will be created by us. If you are not part of the academy program, but want to try contemporary dance, please talk to the owner.

ACTING SKILLS
This class is part of the academy program. Here you start to learn how to behave and express yourself on stage. You will learn the basics, that means how to walk, how to move your arms and how to control your facial expressions in ballet. Further you will learn artistic mimic and gestic, using it in special choreographies with a high tiatrialic level.

CHARACTER DANCE
This class is part of the academy program. Here you go through full character barre work, followed by learning full dances. Character dance is an essential part of the classical ballet curriculum, as it is a selected borrowing of folk dance movements and styles to provide divertissements for story ballet.

This class is part of the academy program. Here you learn multiple solos from different ballets, which you will dance in competitions or school performances.

This class is part of the academy program. Here you learn multiple group dances and corps de ballet parts from different ballets, which you will dance in competitions or school performances.

PRE-PROFESSIONAL BALLET
You have a son/daughter who is 2-8 years old? Then you should book this class for your child right away! In pre-ballet, children find a lot of joy by dancing around and expressing themselves. The teacher will explain them the 6 ballet positions, show them fun jumps and turns and simply make them enjoy ballet. The children will learn small dances and play little ballet games. Doing ballet from a young age not only improves coordination but also adds a lot of elegance to their way to move.

MADALENA ABRANTES
OWNER and TEACHER
HI I AM MADALENA,
the owner and founder of „MAD“, together with Yury Mirov. I also teach. I am from Portugal,18 years old and currently studying business sciences at the Goethe University in Frankfurt.
I have been doing ballet since i was three years old and it has become my passion since then. I have always had the luck to have the best teachers, who always supported me and made me grow in every aspect. The last two years, i have been learning ballet with Yury, as he is the professionalist and my idol in dance. I remember how beautiful it was to dance with my first ballet teacher. I want to share that feeling with the children I teach. I want my students to smile, to have fun and to always be delighted to come to my pre-ballet class.
I also have a lot of experience in fitness classes, as I got teached by Yury Mirov. I am currently doing further training in all dance and fitness areas.
YURY MIROV
OWNER and TEACHER
HI I AM YURY,
the owner and founder of „MAD“, together with Madalena Abrantes. I am the head teacher. Born in Leningrad, I studied at the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet. My ballet foundations were laid by Lyudmily Leonidovna Melnikova, a student of Vaganova herself. After graduating from the academy, I immediately began dancing principal roles.
I worked with many legendary teachers, including Alla Osipenko, Lyubov Kunakova, and Svetlana Efremova. Over the years, I collaborated with numerous ballet companies and theaters as a guest principal dancer. I have performed on prestigious stages such as the Royal Albert Hall, London Coliseum, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, and many others across the UK, Japan, the United States, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Mexico, South Africa, Israel, South Korea, and numerous other countries. I danced Swan Lake in various productions, hundreds of performances of Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Giselle, Les Sylphides, La Bayadère, and many other works alongside renowned ballerinas.
I have amassed a wealth of experience and knowledge that I am eager to share with my beloved students.
VALERIIA SKLOTSKAIA
TEACHER
HI I AM VALERIIA,
and I am a teacher in „MAD“. I was born in Russia and began studying classical ballet at a ballet studio when I was 6 years old. At the age of 11, I was accepted into the Vaganova Ballett Academy, where I completed my training as a ballet master and graduated with a gold medal. I had the privilege of performing on the stages of the Mariinsky and Bolshoi theaters, and I toured with the academy in Japan, Italy, and Switzerland.
After graduating in 2019, I joined the Bavarian State Ballet, where I worked for four seasons. During this time, I continued my studies at the Vaganova Academy and earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in 2022. Since 2023, I have been working as a ballet teacher at various ballet schools, sharing my experience and passion for ballet with the next generation.
